Kinect Hacks - Flash, HTML5, Unity and Silverlight Integration | 720p Innovation in gaming and technology gets us pretty fired up at BLITZ. And when a new interaction peripheral (and engagement model) is released, the first thought that comes to our minds is "let's see if we can hack it." In this case, Director of Technology Noah Gedrich and Software Developer Yosef Flomin can take their bows for linking the Xbox Kinect™ hardware to Adobe Flash via Node.js. Their interest was piqued after Hector Martin and PrimeSense™ released their open-source drivers, resulting in an online demo showing Kinect's uses through a PC. Having worked with multiple UI technologies over the years, Gedrich and Flomin realized that if they could get Kinect to publish information that any UI platform could support, a slew of developers could use this same code to create breakthrough motion-based experiences using familiar markup languages. The trick? A simple socket server. Using a C++ application to send all the skeleton data to a socket server, they were able to connect other technology to the socket, enabling use of the data. When Kinect was first announced, we immediately began dreaming of the different ways we could use it to create engaging experiences that leveraged physical interaction for our clients. Unfortunately, in the earliest days, we would have been tied to Xbox's proprietary XDK and only able to publish to the Xbox itself. With this breakthrough, we're arming any Flash, Silverlight or Unity developer around the world with an intuitive way to implement physical interaction models into their work. Be it a large-scale installation or a desktop application, marketers, agencies and developers can save a great deal of time, energy and money — opening up the potential of Kinect beyond Xbox to any platform supporting socket connections increases the creative possibilities exponentially.

Single Page Applications (SPAs) focus on delivering better user experiences with significant client-side interactions using JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS. But how do you get started? This session explores the core pieces that help you build end-to-end SPA solutions including code structure and modularity, using data binding and MVVM, abstracted remote data calls, page navigation and routing, rich data features, and responsive design for mobility. Along the way I'll be touching on the ASP.NET SPA template preview, Knockout, Sammy, and Breeze. John Papa is a well-known Silverlight expert and is a former Sr Technical Evangelist for Microsoft on the Silverlight and Windows 8 client teams. John is a Microsoft Regional Director and author of 100+ articles and 10 books, specializes in professional application development with technologies including Windows, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, Silverlight, WPF, C#, .NET and SQL Server. He can often be found speaking around the world at keynotes and sessions for industry conferences such as Build, MIX, PDC, TechEd, VSLive and DevConnections. John was the host of the popular show Silverlight TV on Channel 9 and hosted many events including the MIXer and Open Source Fest at major conferences. His current passion is authoring courses for Pluralsight. You can always find John at www.johnpapa.net or on twitter at @john_papa. After the session, if you want to get more details on how to go further with a SPA, you can refer to John Papa's SPA blog post series or watch my video course on building Single Page Apps.

jRIApp - NEW HTML5 APPLICATION FRAMEWORK DEMO

Descripcion del Video
This is a demo application created with the new RIA application framework- jRIApp . It is published under the MIT license and available from GitHub /BBGONE/jRIApp It allows to create next generation line of business application using HTML5 and javascript on the client side. The server side implemented as RIA service and exposed through ASP.NET MVC 4 data controller. If you want to move from Microsoft Silverlight development world to HTML5 world, it is the right choice. I use this framework to replace LOB applications written using SilverLight, and it works 100%. ************************************* And now jRIApp updated to version 1.2. Separating templates and the page now is complete. Templates can be embedded in the page, can be loaded in bulk (as a group) and can be loaded individually. Now framework has new element view registered by the name "dynacontent". It is attached to block tag (typically div) and the div magically can display different templates (even whole pages), inside these templates you can use whatever you can use in this framework (datagrids, stackpanels, comboboxes, nested templates) which can be databound of course. The switch of the content is done by two properties in this element view - templateID and dataContext. Use databinding and bind these to properties to your view model's properties. When you change any of these two properties in your viewmodel - the dynacontent will unload current template and will load new and will set the datacontext on this new template.(when changing datacontext it is really is not unloaded, only template elements is rebinded) All the page view will change to new template, you can later return to the previous template and the state will be preserved, because physically you did not load another page in the browser, so background data is kept alive and don't need to be reloaded. And you can have not only two templates, but more, as much as you need to make logical, uninterrupted piece of work with the user interface. The memory is recycled when template unloads, so you can work as long as you want with this application. It is like desktop WPF application and the data bindings style very much the same. P.S.- later i will add new demo how it works.
