why didnt you just the magic wand tool to select the hair??
I would use it, but it'll miss a few spots along the edges, so I like to? be precise with the polygonal lasso tool. That's just my preference though.
This helped me but,sometimes? the blur never works...
Yeah that troubles me sometimes too.? Whenever the blur tool doesn't work, I simply merge all the visible layers I have into one (Shift+Ctrl+E), and then blur. I suggest to blur at the very, very end :)
