iFrame Templates HTML 5 and Video Ready Upgrade FBML

e Obsolete In 2011 With Facebook's announcement to slowly phase out FBML many businesses are confronted with upgrading their FBML templates page to the new iFrames templates now supported by Facebook. While FBML made it easy for less experienced Fan Page Designers to create Custom Fan Page Designs using the Static FBML App developed by Facebook. New Fan Page creators can no longer install this app anymore. So when creating a new Fan Page you are forced to choose an iFrame Template, use an iFrame generator application, or create your own custom Facebook IFrame app. So if you have been using FBML you have to begin to plan to upgrade your FBML code and custom Welcome tab to Iframes before Facebook completely depreciates FBML all together. Understanding the difference between FBML Templates and Iframes Apps To understand the difference between Static FBML and iFrames see the diagram above. Previously when you had the Static FBML application installed you cut and paste your FBML template code into the FBML Code box on the application tab. Facebook hosted this code on their servers which it made it easy to create a fan page. You did not have to host your code on another web server or worry about web hosting all the code stayed on Facebook. With iFrames the iFrame is just a window into an external site with the content formatted to fit into the 520px width limitation for a custom Fan Page welcome or landing tab. What this means for you and your current FBML Templates? You will need to upgrade to an Iframe App using either iFrame templates or an iFrame App or code generator such as Lujure. Although those Fan Pages with FBML code will continue to work for the time being Facebook will phasing this out in 2011. So are recommendations to our clients, friends and followers is to be prepared and begin to migrate. There are a bunch of new solutions with new ones coming out every day. Hosting your own iFrame solution and setting up your own custom app can be complicated and requires separate web hosting and more technical knowledge on Facebook App development. So what are recommending is that your begin to migrate your FBML templates over to Iframes using an IFrame App, Code Generator or professional IFrame templates. With the right planing the move from FBML Templates to Iframes does not have to be painful! Stay tuned in future post we will be going in depth on the upgrade from FBML Templates to Iframes.
