Accelerometer/Joystick calibration algorithm test, HTML5, iPhone 3G, WebSocket

Descripcion del Video
This demo shows an accelerometer/joystick calibration algorithm in action. I didn't have a joystick so I used the accelerometer from my iPhone 3G. ;-) Everything is implemented in HTML5 and Java Script. The web browser is Chromium 20 running on ARM. See this clip for details how I send the accelerometer data from an iPhone to a web browser on another device: Accelerometer 3D cube + WebSocket relay /watch?v=iXXiZ... Enjoy! © M.Sc.Eng. HTML5 accelerometer game

Descripcion del Video
I spent today making a simple game for my girlfriend to enjoy. The main star of the game is our cat Booboo and the point of the game is to tilt your mobile device to move him around the screen to collect food and avoid dogs. It works on iOS with the latest version of Safari and Android using the latest version of the stock android browser. If playing on a regular computer then you can use your keyboards arrow keys. Thanks to improved HTML5 support in the newer versions of mobile browsers, I was able to get access to the accelerometer data via javascript and keep the game as pure HTML/JS. This video shows the game at a few stages through the day. The heart of the game is a regular HTML table. You need to select whether you want to play portrait or landscape (so it knows to use X or Y data from your accelerometer). Some devices may need to be turned upside down in order for the tilt to move Booboo in the right direction. I tested the game on an iPad and Galaxy S3. A few things need to be tweaked depending on the device. Right now I'm not attempting to recognise which device is playing the game and instead have optimised the game settings for the iPad. I know I could use something like phonegap to make a native app which would have better access to the mobile devices hardware but I really wanted to keep it in the browser :)

Beautiful work! Got a question. If I want to reproduce what you did, feeding data from iphone to browser, do I need to run a relay server? Do you have an example code you can share?? thanks!
Yes, you need to implement a WebSocket relay server. In my video the two clients negotiate which one will send accelerometer data and the other receives it. I have implemented partial support for a WebSocket relay server.? It is enough to reproduce the video, but it is alpha code and may not be fully correct and functional.
Thanks. I set? up a node js WebSocket forwarding. It's working now.
